I am currently living in Decorah, Iowa. I graduated from Luther College in May of 2009 with the B.A. in Art and Women’s and Gender Studies, as well as an emphasis in French. While at Luther, I was the student gallery technician, art history tutor and Artists Collective president. I also helped design, edit and write for Art Scan, the department’s student-run magazine. In the summer of 2008, I completed a Collections and Exhibitions Internship with the Dubuque Museum of Art.
I began work at Masonry Technology, Inc. in Cresco, Iowa in June of 2009 as a Digital Media Specialist. I have been working on a variety of projects for the company but am primarily focusing on developing their social networking and blogging. Visit http://mtidry.wordpress.com to see a little of my handiwork.
In the near future, I plan to attend graduate school to earn my M.F.A. in sculpture or fiber arts. As an elective, I would like to pursue dance/movement. My engagement in contact improvisation has profoundly impacted my life, and I highly value learning through the body.
In regards to my artwork, I primarily create sculptures and fiber works which utilize and are inspired by the natural ecological and bodily environments. My work is informed by a variety of artists, the most influential of whom include Eva Hesse, Petah Coyne, Cai Guo-Qiang, El Anatsui, Jan Hopkins, Gerhard Richter, Yves Klein and Julie McLaughlin. Links to the websites/works databases of these and other artists who have impacted my work are accessible from the third column.
